Texoma Weight Loss Surgery

My name is Pam and this is my story. I have battled weight problems for most of my life.  It feels like I have tried every diet, workout fad, and pill known to man. All of these would provide short term success, but I always gained back the weight with a few extra pounds.  This has been a never ending struggle for me.

In October 2007 I received the wonderful news that I was to be a grandmother for the first time. This was especially touching to me since my son is my only child. As I looked back on all the activities my son and I took part in when he was growing up I realized that my weight restricted what I could do.  This was very disheartening to me and I didn't want to repeat that with my grandson.  I wanted my time with my grandson to be of the highest quality so that he would remember his "Mimi" running and playing with him, not just watching because she was too big. I wanted him to know that his playtime with me would not be limited by my weight.

In February of 2008 my primary care physician mentioned weight loss surgery and highly recommended Dr. Kureshi.  I mentioned to Dr. Kureshi in our first visit that improving and sustaining my health was the most important thing to me, not just losing the weight.  I wanted to be able to play with my grandson for years to come.

My grandson, Sam, was born June 1st, 2008 and I had Lap-Band surgery 2 months later in August.  Since my surgery I have stopped all my blood pressure medications and my sleep apnea is now gone.  I have lost 95 pounds so far and have gone from a size 20 pants to a size 9 and from a 3X T-shirt to a medium. 

I would like to show my immense appreciation to Dr. Kureshi for giving me my life back.  I would like to thank Sam for giving me a reason to finally get healthy.  Sam is almost 2 years old now and we run and play constantly.  I look forward to many more active years with my grandson and future grandchildren
